In conservative Malaysia, chances are high that you were never given ‘The Talk’ by your parent or the sexual reproductive lessons in school were vague. The top 3 diseases in Malaysia are AIDS, Gonorrhea and Syphilis. In a Malaysian Health Ministry report, STDs doubled in the past decade with Syphilis taking the lead from 2.99 per 100,000 people infected in 2011 to 6.5 per 100,000 people in 2017.

Additionally, in a 2018 speech shared by State Health and Anti-Dry Committee chairman Low Chee Leong shared that 80% of 73,557 HIV cases were transmitted through heterosexual sexual behaviours. This breaks the perception that HIVs were commonly transmitted by drug addicts or homosexuals. 

2. You Control Your Own Body Autonomy
Taking the initiative to carry condoms is empowering and shows that you are taking the conscious effort to protect yourself by having safe sex. 

3. You Decide When You are Ready to Have Kids
Do not be part of the statistic: 40% of all pregnancies worldwide are unplanned. By being proactive and having condoms on standby, you get to have worry-free fun without making a last minute dash to the nearest convenience store or getting anxious if a period came late.

Tip: Combine another form of contraception like IUD or the pill to increase your protection!
